The production of “My Thing” is a testament to high-stakes collaboration. In 1996, renowned UK DJ Dave V.J. (Kiss FM) invited Colin to provide tracks for KRS-One during the MC’s UK visit. Within 48 hours of the initial meeting, the pair were in Strongroom Studios recording the session. The track was later mastered at Abbey Road Studios and released in 1999 via Xosa Records.
Reflecting its massive impact on the burgeoning digital landscape, “My Thing” was the 2nd most downloaded track in the Music Week / People.com end-of-year charts for 2000. The track’s legacy continued when it was remixed as the opening statement for Emmanuel’s ‘D’illusion of Grandeur.’
